Coronary Heart Disease
โรคหลอดเลือดหัวใจ
Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) is a condition where the coronary arteries that supply blood to the heart become narrowed due to the buildup of fatty deposits. This results in reduced blood flow to the heart muscle and can lead to chest pain (Angina) or even heart failure. CHD is a major cause of death in many countries around the world. Understanding this disease is therefore important in order to effectively prevent and manage risk factors.
The risk factors for coronary artery disease include several aspects that can increase the likelihood of developing the disease. These factors include:
• Genetics If there is a family history of heart disease, it will increase the risk.
• Increased age
• Diabetes
• Hypertension
• High or abnormal blood lipid levels
• Thrombosis
• Overweight or Obesity
• Stress
• Lack of exercise
• Eating unhealthy and high-fat foods
• Smoking: The substances in cigarettes accelerate the deterioration of the cells in the blood vessel lining.
Coronary artery disease is a condition that can be prevented through behavioral changes and a healthy lifestyle. Eating a nutritious diet, exercising regularly, and quitting smoking are effective ways to reduce risk. Additionally, regularly undergoing health check-ups to assess risk and receive medical advice is important in helping to prevent this disease.
Currently, there is a genetic test for the risk of coronary artery disease, which is a DNA test to assess the risk of developing coronary artery disease based on genetics. Each individual has a unique genetic makeup, and coronary artery disease is one of the conditions associated with genes. Therefore, genetic testing can assist in planning care and prevention of the disease accurately.
